Loons Grab An Important Point But Drop Two In A 1-1 Draw With LAFC

St. Paul, MINN -- Minnesota United grab a point but drop two on a disappointing Saturday evening against LAFC.

Minnesota United will feel that they deserved much more in a game that they controlled.

United was pressuring the entire first half and had several shots.

They controlled the possession, and the game seemed to be going in one direction: a Loons win.

However, LAFC had other plans.

Christian Arango scored a goal that United goalie, Tyler Miller, will want to forget about.

The ball bounced in between Miller's legs and slipped through his hands - it completely took the steam out of the engine for Minnesota.

Luckily for the Loons, halftime was right around the corner.

The Loons came out of the break on a mission: to score a goal.

In the 65th minute, Reynoso was fouled right outside of the box.

This was the best chance of the game for the Loons - they had to make it count here.

Leave it to the captain, Osvaldo Alonso, to get his foot on the rebound and bury it past the LAFC goaltender.

Allianz was pumping.

Loons had all the momentum and had several opportunities to come out on top. However, some poor finishing led to the Loons only coming out of this match with a single point.

BADER'S TAKE

Loons could have walked away with 3 points, but poor finishing forced them to settle for the draw.

The Lons controlled the entire game with 71% possession.

They had 18 total shots, only 7 making it on the net.

In what was a critical game in the playoff race against a team outside the picture, the Loons dropped the ball.

They had several chances at the end of the game on the counter-attack, but couldn't find anything in the attacking third.

The Loons have huge games coming up next week against Vancouver and Kansas.

They will need to show up and play some of their best soccer all season.

The West is still too close to call, but every point is going to be critical, and let's hope that these two dropped points don't come back to haunt the Loons.

What's Next:

Minnesota United (6th 45 points) at Vancouver (7th 44 points) Wednesday, October 27th at 9 p.m. central.
