St. Paul, MINN -- Can we just change the franchise name to the 'Comeback Kids' at least for this season? For the fourth game to start the season, the Wild were able to mount a comeback against the Anaheim Ducks - who were dejected after falling in Overtime.
The Wild didn't start the game that well, something that has been a factor in each game so far, letting in the first goal within 5 minutes of the first.
The beautiful thing?
This Minnesota Wild team is built differently than in years past.
At the 12 minute mark, Sturm threw the puck at the net and it deflected off of Brandon Duhaime's skate while he was picking up his stick.
They say you always remember the first goal you scored, I don't think Duhaime will be forgetting this goal anytime soon.
What a way to score your first career NHL goal, to say the least.
Not long after, Captain Spurgeon scored an absolute snipe to put the Wild up 2-1.
The Ducks put one back and sent the game tied, 2-2, going into the second period.
The Ducks came out hot in the second and got an early lead.
The Wild would not go away easily.
Jon Merill scored to tie the game, 3-3. His first goal since Feb. 8, 2020.
It was a fast-paced, intense, and emotional third period; no one was able to find the go-ahead goal.
Some excellent play from Talbot kept the Wild alive.
With no team able to create separation, overtime was calling.
For the second straight game, the Wild treated the home fans to extra hockey.
This time, it was Ryan Hartman jumping off the bench, grabbing a lovely dish from Zuccarello and finished with a snipe over the glove of Gibson.
Minnesota Wild are 4-0 for the first time since 2008-09.
All wins coming in the comeback form.
BADER'S TAKE
This Minnesota Wild team is different
If this was four years ago, the Wild would have let that early goal in, and that would have been the game.
Luckily this is the present, and this Minnesota Wild team is just so much fun to watch.
There is no quit in this team. If that isn't clear to you yet - you may be watching a different team or sport.
It is fun watching the Wild this year knowing that at any given moment they can flip the switch.
It isn't just Kaprizov either, it is the whole team that has this just awesome vibe.
You can feel that the locker room chemistry is better than in years past.
I am so excited for this season. You all should be too.
